MAKING HISTORY COME ALIVE

Kathy has one goal, to make history come alive for other readers the same way that her favorite authors did for her. To Kathy, history class was boring, memorizing dates and names and places were just meaningless terms. In spite of that, historical fiction novels were her favorite kind of book. She SAW Westward Expansion through Laura Ingalls’ eyes when she read the Little House books. She LIVED the Industrial Revolution along with mill workers in some of Ann Rinaldi’s novels. History came alive for her when she read about PEOPLE, and she loved it!

ABOUT KATHY

Reading and writing make her happy. Kathy likes to read books that take her not only to different places, but to different time periods, too. As a kid, historical fiction novels were Kathy’s favorite kind of book, which seems funny because she hated history class. She and her classmates had to memorize dates and names and places. They learned about the Industrial Revolution and Westward Expansion. Those terms didn’t mean anything to her. But she SAW Westward Expansion through Laura Ingalls’ eyes when she read the Little House books. She LIVED the Industrial Revolution along with mill workers in some of Ann Rinaldi’s novels. History came alive for Kathy when she read about PEOPLE, and she loved it! Kathy writes mostly historical fiction, hoping to make history come alive for other readers the way authors like Laura Ingalls Wilder and Ann Rinaldi did for her.
